Deforestation-free supply chain
We're working to ensure a deforestation-free supply chain as part of our efforts to protect nature, tackle climate change and promote human rights.

Forests sustain life on Earth. They help regulate climate and are the second-largest carbon store after oceans. They provide habitats for wildlife and support the livelihoods of surrounding communities. But alarming levels of deforestation have already resulted in biodiversity loss and are contributing to climate change. This is also leading to real and significant impacts on economies, businesses, and communities.
Protecting and regenerating nature is one of the biggest contributions Unilever can make to help address these crises.
Every day, more than 3.4 billion people in over 190 countries place their trust in us by using our products. They trust us to fulfil the commitments we have made to people and planet, and we take this responsibility seriously.
In 2020, we committed to achieving a deforestation and conversion-free supply chain.
Our commitment means that the palm oil, paper and board, tea, soy, and cocoa entering our direct supply chain should no longer be associated with land that has been deforested or converted for farming since our cut-off date. These commodity supply chains contribute to more than 65% of Unilever’s total impact on land, and are the crops most often linked to deforestation of natural ecosystems to farmland.
We also believe in the importance of empowering a new generation of farmers and smallholders and going beyond our supply chain to protect and regenerate nature.
We're working to ensure a deforestation-free supply chain as part of our efforts to protect nature, tackle climate change and promote human rights.
We are proud that 97.5% of our palm oil, paper and board, tea, soy, and cocoa order volumes were independently verified as deforestation-free by the end of 2023.
